Hi

I need to replace my exhaust fan. This is rated at 12V 0.30A (12cm). I have had a search on the web and a lot of fans although rated at 12V have different ampage rating. Can I replace with any 12V fan irrespective of its ampage, or must it be a 0.3A as well. Otherwise can someone recomend a 12cmx12cmx2.5cm fan, 12V, 0.3A, which is reliable and quiet. Thanks

Any 120mm fan will do. You dont have to bother with the ampage. I have 6 Scythe S-flex fans rated at 63.7 CFM and 28.0 dBA. To me that moves alot of air and is quite.

Here is one that moves 33.5 CFM and 8.7 dBA. But it is bit expensive at $20. IF you want the best you got to pay higher prices.

Here are other Scythe 120mm fans. It will give you the CFM and the dBA.

There are other 120mm fans which are not that expensive. Check newegg.com.

It doesn't matetr what ampage. Fans draw so little current. There also standalone ie, unlike a lightbulb in a xmas tree, you cant replace a 2w with a 10w. Fans only draw abt 60-80% of their rated current under normal conditions too.

unless your psu underrated and you cant spare an xtra 0.3A without overload, it shud b fine

the draw from a fan is negligible compared to the rest of the system and will pull whatever it needs. Fans pull a maximum of around 2 amps if you have lighted led or ccd fans. Just get whatever you want....

I personally have 8 fans in my system (excluding the one on the psu), 6 are 120mm and 2 are 92mm (4 are on my 120.2 rad)

holy f***!!!! 2A!!!

if your fans pull 2A each you got serious probs there ie burnt out motor, or a short circuit in the leds

standard fans - 0.12-0.45A
led - 0.2-0.5A
cathode - 0.4-0.8A

even uber 25cm fans (ive got one :D) only draw abt 0.6A
