Great Man!!!! I thought you might be banging on them in there.... I've kind of got hooked on it myself.....

Yesterday I forgot I was doing laundry while I was playing on line with my son.... Wife wasn't too happy with me when she found wet clothes in the washer..... (Just my luck she had to do a load last night)......

Well, I've seen numerous videos of it and it looks pretty neat but it is a pure play-with-your-buds game.

COD5 is also making big waves with the zombies and all. Once I start my new job then I'll get ADSL and get connected.

What is it with the zombies these days? And where is the follow up to Shaun of the Dead?

Been looking at getting Left 4 Dead recently. If you guys say it's a good 'un, then reckon I'll pick up a copy.

Playing a lot of Rainbow 6 Vegas: 2 recently. Getting quite into that.

I'm still stuck on Silent Hunter 4.

Reply to Vokofpolisiekar

We are mainly still doing Forged Alliance. We also all picked up World in Conflict, and it seems cool, but we just haven't really gotten into it yet.

Disappointed with COD5, seemed rushed and was quite short in terms of how long it took to complete.

The Nazi Zombies was a nice touch though.

What I am looking forward to is Operation Flash Point 2. Been waiting for a authentic war simulator in LAN/Net play.

@ Vokofpolisiek That's right. L4D has a single player mode, but it's the same as the on line game. I haven't had so much fun with a on line game since I Played Tribes and Tribes 2. That was a team playing game as well, but it took 10 man teams to compete in that game. 5 on offense and 5 on defense. It was quite the feat to get a 10 man team to play in the 56k days.

L4D is a 4 player max, which I kinda of like. It's a lot easier to practice and play with 4 players for sure. Now my sons are adults and they both play with me and my 7 year old grandson can kick ass in the game. Of course the grandson has had a computer built by me for gaming since he was 2. He plays all the latest games STALKER, FC2, and now L4D. Really that's the future of gaming, my grandson's generation coming up. He shows me moves I haven't thought of, because his mind isn't cluttered with pre conceived notions yet. He plays from a place that only he can get to because of that. It sure is funny to say to him on the mike during the game, nice shoot man!!!

@ RobD I think you'd like the game Man. It's a no holds barred game. You got between 13,000 to 15,000 infected attacking you iin every mission. It's a shooting frenzy! It's also got the coolest move, knocking back a swarm on you then shooting them before they can charge again. You will be swarmed in every level at some point, so that move is the one you need to get down. It took me awhile to get that move down. Other than that, it's a regular shooter taken to the extreme, at least that's the way I feel about it.

@ anyone If anyone knows how to get DSL to play on Steam in L4D, please let me know. I've got a friend of mine that bought the game and can't play it on DSL. I know it can be accomplished, but I've researched it and can't come up with the fix yet. The funny thing about it is, he just bought Fear 2 and it's a Steam game as well. Fear plays fine, L4D drops out every time he tries to get into a game. I'm sure it's in the network settings somewhere, but I never have to mess around in there on cable. HELP!!!!

One last thing that should be first - make sure the firewall isn't intervening. From what you've said I'd recon something terminates the program when connecting to steam. So that should be the first port of call.

Thanks Man, I sent him the linfo. I hope it works for him.

It should play fine on your lappy WingDing, as long as you've got good bandwidth on your ISP. You get the game PM me with your Steam ID.

I still say you remind me of the "Smoker" in L4D, here's the read on him..... Primary weapon 50' tongue.......

If my fcuking Netgear router could stop dropping the WiFi signal every few minutes, I might be able to actually get online :(

It's a real problem right now. Anyone else have a similar problem?

Oh, and yes, I was asked to pose when they were modelling that character. Although it wasn't my tongue that was fifty feet long.....

You might try disabling the multi core support.

The problem I wrote about above was solved by disabling the multi core support. We thought it was the DSL, but it wasn't. It seems to be a dual core issue. My quad core hasn't had a problem, but when I had my dual core running I had trouble playing old games with it.

Hey, I just built a new machine to get around it and gave the dual core to my son...... [struts away with a Wingy swagger]

I like Dells.

I disembowelled and cannibilised an Inspiron 6000 to stick into a HTPC case. It actually works bloody well (overclocked and watercooled, naturally - any idea how hard it is to work up the energy to type 'Pentium M pin mod' into Google?) for said purpose.

Okay, okay, it was an excuse to waste some steel sheeting and a few Dremel blades.

And a Saturday afternoon.

If you have Vista on your laptop - it doesn't like the older Netgear routers. I switched to the D-Link DIR-655 and haven't had a single problem since.

I use the DIR-625 D-Link wireless N router. It was a pain in the ass to set up my notebook to transeive using the N protocol. It always defaulted to G protocol.
Total **** I think.
