Hey everyone,
I currently have a problem with my DSL connection, I think. I have a DSL network that I share with two other roommates. Normally speed is fine, but two weeks ago I went out of town for a week, took my computer with me, but when I got back, my browsing speed is now about as fast as a 28k modem. The thing that really puzzles me, however, is that my download speeds are normal. I can download still at about 300k/s. I don't have any spyware other than a few cookies and when I scaned for viruses, I had 2 but they were fixed and my internet is still running slowly but with fast download speeds. Also, my roommate's speeds are normal, while mine is slow. I am really confused by this problem. Does anyone have any ideas or suggestions?

Are the room mates connections OK?

You guys play tricks on each other?

Reset the modem?

My roommate's connections work fine, and I've tried disconecting everyone but myself from the router and resetting the modem with only my computer attached, and still the problem persists. I've also tried switching up the plugs on the router and plugging my computer directly into the modem. Also, to my knowledge my roommate's aren't playing any tricks on me, they've never done anything like that before.

Check your network cable

I'll be sure to try that, but wouldn't that affect both my browsing and download speeds?

Brouse speed and download speed should be similar in most cases.

Sorry, I thought 300kbit/s was what you were saying was slow, (I have a 4Mbit cable connection)

Purging your brouser cache may help, and setting it to a small/minimal size was recommended to me when I originally got my cable line.
