Bad video card caused No POST?

My computer hard shut down without warning. At first I thought it was the power supply, but I swapped that and it still wouldn't turn on. Then I removed the video card and now it will power on, so now I am using the on-board video. Has anyone ever encountered a bad video card causing a No POST issue in a computer?

Specs:
CPU- Intel Pentium D 930
Mobo- Intel D945Gtp
ram- 1GB DDR2 PC-4200
video was- asus geforce 6800 gt pci-e
video now- intel onboard video

When I was saying no post, I meant even the fans in the case and powersupply and on the CPU would not spin up. So initially I thought I had a dead PS or CPU or MOBO because even the basic stuff like fans wouldn't turn on. I was really suprised that removing the video card made it work again.
