Urgent - This is what my NB looks like!

I just took the NB heatsink/fan off my A8N-SLI to replace with a zalman one, only to find this disaster underneath. Surely its not meant to look like this? Theres a hole in the middle half filled with some lighter compound! The surface of the NB is also VERY uneven. Wtf?

So there nothing wrong with any of the white paste that was in the "hole" (and the fact I removed a little block of it with the old heatsink)?

That gunk is just the old thermal compound. Make sure you clean it off before you put the new one on. Check out the arctic silver website for instructions to do this.
