Why so low? 3Dmark06 score of 2500

Hey guys, thanks for taking the time to read my post.

My system is as follows:
E6400 core 2 duo OC'ed to 2.4 (<- actually runs cooler than it did @ stock)
ASUS P5N-32 SE SLI Deluxe mobo
7600gt factory oc'ed to 560, 400.
2gb of kingston value ram, oc'ed from 533mhz to 600mhz. 5-5-5-15 (4 sticks of 512)
250 on the hard drive
NZXT PF-500 500Watt Power Supply

I have the latest drivers for my mobo, and im running forceware 82.42 (or 82.41) on the 7600gt. Ran a memtest86+ on the memory and it is running fine. The CPU temp is about 51c under load, 43c idle. GC idles at 65 and hits 75c under load. I look at comparisions after I run 3Dmark06 and people with the same set up are blowing me away. Sometimes with lower specs they still bypass me.

Is a score of 2500 not low? I would think with this sytem I should be a little higher. Im also using a 20.1 inch widescreen monitor playing in a resolution of 1650x1080, but to get a higher score in 3dmark06 i turn it down to 1024x768.

Please help, I am at a loss here.

The higher the resolution, the more stress on the graphics card. Most people post scores running benchmarks and games at 1024x768. Try those resolutions and run a benchmark and then see what you get.

Yep, I figured that out through running multiple tests, and it did go up, from 2300 to about 2500, with the highest I got @ 2593 or 2693, (Im leaning towards 2593).

Yeah you got to run at default settings to compare it to others!

Im pretty sure that I set my resolution to the system I was comparing it to to see if it would help. But even after running 3Dmark06 at the same resolution as the other guys, my score would only increase by a little, but still remained much lower than the other guys.

2500 is low, but not for a single 7600gt(of which you haven't mentionned otherwise, although i see your mobo supports it). If you compare on ORB, keep in mind all those > 3500 scores or so are in SLI configurations.

Otherwise they've gone much farther (50% higher for all clockrates, cpu, mem, gpu core/mem) than your current settings.

There's most likely not much wrong with your system although if you're just looking to increase your 3dmark, there's plenty of possibitilies

2500 in 3DMark06 isnt all that bad for a 7600 GT. Ive seen it score around 3000-3500 though, and since u have a Core 2 Duo i suppose the score is a little low. Could be a driver problem.

Drop the res to 1024 x 768.. Then run the test.. Most people use that res when they benchmark (unless otherwise specified)

You'll score much better.. Oh, and get the latest nVidia drivers.. ;)

"7600gt factory oc'ed to 560, 400. "

gpu at 560, ram at 400? What is this, a DDR2 card? Slow video ram could be the culprit.

Or did you mean 1400? It's just that there's a 7600GS out there with effective 800 mhz ddr speed (which means actual clock of 1300).

not related to the topic, but I remember a glitch in the not so recent Forceware series which reported video ram speed as double of actual. (e.g. 6600gt with DDR3 at 1100 looked like 2200)

Last time I checked, on most new graphics card, you take the mem speed and multiply it by 2.

My ATI X1900XT 512 GDDR3 reads as 721MHz (suppose to be 725MHz), but I'm sure that that speed is times by 2.

It is possible that his card only has 800 MHz DDR2 VRAM. However, I thought GDDR2 was more common on AGP cards than PCI Express.

I thought the latest was like 91.xx something as well.

Also, I caught that you're running a WS. Well, heh, a single 7600GT running at a higher resolution will definitely give you a lower score there
