Perhaps someone who owns a TU-HDS20 DirecTV receiver can help me. The
receiver loses the satellite signal after the guide as been acquired. After
the data acquisition process is complete after I plug in the receiver I have
0 on my signal meter and all channel are unavailable. If I check my signal
meter before the guide is acquired it is 91%. I have been playing with
this for some time and am stumped.
On a related note I purchased the unit from ebay. I emailed the seller of
my concern. He said he doesn't accept refunds and that nowhere in his
auction did he state that the receiver works, which is true, but the auction
does not state that is doesn't work either. Do I have any recourse here or
a I out of pocket if I can't get this thing to work.

There are some strange things that can happen.
1. If you have a multi satellite with more than one LNB, one may be bad. The
channel you select determines which LNB is currently used.
2. The receiver provides the power for the LNBs. The receiver may be
defective.
3. The receiver may be set to recieve local channels. The TU-HDS20
automatically selects input from the external RF antenna connector, so no
signal is received. You may need to get Directv to download new software to
your receiver to fix that problem.
Good luck!
