I know I know, another one of these threads! Let me start by saying i'm only looking to see if anybody has had any experience in overclocking a D805 using DDR400 ram? I wanna know if i'm doing something wrong or if it's my ram that's limiting my overclock. I suspect it is after trawling the net but i'd be grateful for any help :)

I am getting an overclock of 3.2Ghz (FSB 160x20) with temps between 50-55°C idle and 60-65°C load (approx); I know that's hot in comparison to others temps. I haven't attempted to overclock the ram successfully and it's running at 266Mhz at the moment. Check below for the other parts to the puzzle!

CPU: D805 2.66Ghz (OC - 3.2Ghz)
Heatsink: ThermalRight XP-120 w/ Arctic Silver 5
Mobo: P5P800-SE
Ram: Corsair 1GB DDR XMS3200XL Pro TwinX (2x512MB)
PSU: Antec NeoPower 480W

Your RAM certainly shouldn't limit your overclock. For example, you could run your FSB at 200 MHz, and your FSB:DRAM ratio at 1:1, which would give you DDR-400, I think. This would require your CPU to handle 4.0 GHz, at which point heat output and voltage requirements ought to be your limiting factors.
