Everyone here recommended the 8800GTS so this is what I am going to get soon. The problem is that I dont want to spend more money to get a new cpu+mainboard+ram,so I thought to buy the 8800 and use it with my old system. My specs are:

AMD 939 64 3500+ Venice cpu
ASUS A8N-E mainboard
2x512 Kingston RAMs at 400Mhz and 2x512(cant remember brand name, lol)at 400Mhz (2GB of RAM,not sure if it is DDR or DDR-2)
Western Digital 200GB HDD
Coolermaster 450W
LG 19" monitor

Are these specs enough to support the 8800GTS?I will be running most games at 1280*1024 and I would like to have every graphics option maxed out :D.Is it a good choise?

It should be ok, but overclock your 3500+ if you can.

Agree. It's good enough. Overclocking the CPU is worth the try too.

You'll get awesome gaming performance.

Your RAM will be DDR1 if your CPU is a socket 939.

I would have thought that the low RAM/CPU speeds will be bottlenecks on the system.

See Toms Page 'GeForce 8800 requires the fastest CPU' (or something like that) haven't yet worked out to link lol.

It will perform fine with your current system setup. But IMO its a bit wasted...

wait until february, the gts is supposed to drop down to only $300, and it will only have 340mb compared to 680mb, but its still a better deal
