unfortunate is this not possible the legal way. The Hp's
are sold with a rom and is registered this way too. So even if you machine is
damaged and is repaired by HP it will come back with a french
rom

not legally, and if you could find one on a website -
would you really trust that no one had tampered with it?
I would only get a ROM availible thru a manufacturer, and
they will only reset the ROM in the language of the
original ROM on the device.

If you can find a way to backup the ROM and re-install it yourself maybe you
can talk someone into making you a copy of theirs.

*If* it is ROM it is Read Only Memory- Read Only, not reprogrammable.
EPROMS are erasable.

I already did this before to make sure it works, I even got a way to bypass
the reigonal check, all I need now is a ROM Image from any one with with an
english Ipaq 5450 , in a while I might just go down to the streets and
post my hand and insted of asking for mony i'll be asking for a ROM Image
