The Antec 900 case is lacking in a couple of ways. What's the best course for modding it?
The first problem is, with 2 120 mm fans in front this thing is like having a built-in vacuum. It seems like dust filters are needed. I'm thinking of just cutting electrostatic filters and taping it on the front of the case. Is there a more elegant solution?
The second problem is, it comes with 4 fans but none of them have 3-pin interfaces so you can connect them to your motherboard and do software monitoring / control (like with speedfan). They only have Molex connectors and a manual, 3-speed switch. You have to open the case to get to these and I want software control so the fans to be quieter when the PC is idle and louder when the PC is overheating. Is there a good adapter for this? Or a way to solder one yourself?
BTW, Antec suggests putting two 120mm fans in a row in one of the hard drive cages (one on each side). Is this pointless, and will it ad extra wear to the fans? It seems like having one fan on twice as fast would be quieter.
