i got a gts and i idle at 61c full load with little overclock 550/900 IS AT 76-79. i hit 80 with adrienne tech demo. what is the highest safe temps??? :?

The idle seems a little high, but 80 under load is ok - you can go over 100 without issues (although the magical 3 figures always seems way to high for my own liking).

Most people seem to get temps in your range. I get from this, it's quite normal.

Don't worry, the load temp is more important, and it looks good.

So 80c is the max acceptable temp for the GTS right?

No - it's around 110 - 120 before it will start to throtlle back. But you shouldn't go that high.

120 is the preset temperature of which then the nvidia control panel would shut the card off to reduce overheating.
