X-Fi Extreme music - PCI-e?

i just for an extreme music sound card and im wondering what slot on my p5b deluxe i can put it in?

the 16x pcie slot is used by the graphics card obviously. but i also have pci-e slots and pci slots...which slot should the sound card go into? and would anything go wrong if i put it in the wrong one?

but ya only standard pci NOT express or you may somehow damage your system.

Theres a small slot in a mail box, look for one near the post office. Now before you stick this bad boy in the slot you will want to put it in a post pack and write my address on it and stick some stamps on it (erm to keep the static away).




PCI is the long white one.

use trial and error. the card goes into the only slot it properly fits in. aka the long white one.

Why not? Mobo's are poping up with more and more 1x slot's on them but there are hardly any cards fir them yet, The more cards that switch to the new standard the better IMO.

Probably 1x there wouldn't be a need for 4x and higher.

i know...it's been planned since pci-e came out. i wonder how much more powerful the pcie version would be.

I don't think it will be more powerfull, but I don't know wether the current X-FI cards are limmited by the PCI slots bandwidth which i doubt they are.

They won't be any more powerful because they still use the x-fi core. And no sound card is yet limited by the PCI bus.
