OK. so here is my 95% sure computer build that I'm hoping is alright considering the price. I'm just not 100% sure because I'm still lost with a few but if i were to buy my computer (,which I am getting on the weekend,) now, I would choose these specs:

Case:Coolermaster RC-534-SKR2 17in 430W ATX Case Silver w/USB, Audio $89.00

CPU:Intel PentiumD 805 2.66G Dual Core S775 533Mhz 1Mx2 64bit $109.00
(for now, I'm gonna try overclocking it to 3.0 to test my skills {cuz i've never overclocked before} i'm getting a core 2 duo in q2/q3 when the price drops)

Hard drive:Western Digital 250GB SATA-II 7200rpm 8MB Cache Hard Drive $84.95

Ram: Kingston 1GB PC5300 667Mhz 240pin DDR2$133.00

Mobo:Gigabyte GA-965P-DS3 ATX S775 965P DDR2 PCI-E16
Motherboard$168.00

DVD: LG GSA-H22N 18x DVD-Writer Black w/Software $34.95

Video:eVGA e-GeForce 7600GS 256MB PCIE16 Video Card w/Fan$132.00

BTW. I could change the DVD to a lightscribe 16x for +10 and the ram to a samsung brand for -$18 dollars but I'm worried about the compatibility with the samsung brands.

So I just want to know if anyone finds anything wrong with this build and if anyones got any suggestions. the final cost with tax is $848.63 I'm also past my supposed budget by about $50.

thx guys for anything

You can do much better for 800$ CAD

Cooler Master Centurion 534 w/430watt
$77.76

Asus P5N-E SLI
$158.76

Intel Pentium D 820
$119.99

BFG 7600gt
$120.16 (after 40$ MIR)

Corsair XMS DDR2-667 1024MBx1 4-4-4-12
$144.16

Western Digital 250GB SATAII 7200RPM 16MB
$87.43

Lite-On DVD burner w/ lightscribe
$38.99

Total: $834.00 ($794.00 with MIR) shipped

-This setup has good upgrade potential too, just add in a DX10 videocard once they become more available and affordable, a second stick of the same memory for 2GB in dual-channel, and a E4300 once they also become more available and more affordable.
-In terms of the Gigabyte 965P-DS3 vs Asus P5N-E SLI, they are both good boards, although the P5N-E SLI is cheaper, and supports SLI.
-The website I priced it off of doesn't seem to have the Intel Pentium D 805. The main difference between the two processors is the multiplier and FSB (805 is 166x16, while the 820 is 200x14)
-The only real difference between this build and yours the videocard and prices. DirectCanada is probably the cheapest online hardware retailer in Canada. If you live in BC, you'll need to add 7%PST to the total.

I'm using this new computer for playing strategy games (ie. Age of empires and company of heroes) and watching a bunch of Movies. I'm also planning on doing a bit of everything but this is a new computer after 7 years so i haven't fully decided what I will really be doing with it.

Omen's setup is MUCH better, I agree.

If you can spring for a bit more budget, a 6300 C2D, with that mobo and RAM, will overclock like a beast and should shred any video encoding you throw at it ;)

Sadly, I can't go with online dealers because my parents (who are providing me with the $800) are paranoid about online dealers and keyloggers so I can't
go for the directcanada store (even though It's based in Richmond And so am i), Also, If i added in the +7% pst tax It goes $100 above my allowed price so Again I am not able to, I'm taking skyguys advice though and i am going to get the core 2 duo but just over the summer because that's when I can again ask for a high priced item.

though i'd still like to know if there is any incompatibility with those products. If anyone could help me out at that point that'd be great
