I have two computers that play online games at the same time and one computer that just surfs the web. I currently have roadrunner cable at 5mb. If I get the increase of speed to 8mb, would that help for online games such as BF2?? I just want the fastest speed I can obtain for BF2 with this particular setup. Both computers are wired that play games, the other is wireless. Have already set QOS to high for my computer. Using Linksys Wireless Router WRT54G version 2.2 with latest firmware.
I had the 5mbps Road Runner and I have since used both the 8mbps and 10mbps offerings and neither made a bit of difference as far as BF2 performance goes. Bandwidth is not so much the limiting factor, latency is the enemy, and latency is going to be virtually identical on either package since you still connect to the same network with each one.
whats your avarage ping?
if its under arond 40~50 then ur fine
also to improve latency, make sure your family isnt downloading anything, it really slows if they are
another thing you could try is moving to a different server
