I have a 6150, 6800, and a 6600 video card. Neither seem to detect wide screen resolutions, which is a problem. I have gone though Nvidia's forums, but no luck.

What can I do?

Note: It was suggested that If I had the monitor.ini file, this would correct the issue, however, Sony does not provide such files as their TV's are plug N play.
I do have a widescreen monitor to test though.
Thanks in advance.

Can you trying "forcing" the resolution by any chance. it might not be a visible option but for example on my ATi drivers they allow me to force a resolution even though it isn't specified as being supported by the monitor.

no.

"display resolutions this monitor doesnt support"

only shows all the slandered resolutions.

Any other suggestions?

Ok so you've got the newest drivers right? Well are there any other drivers besides nvidia's that will work with these...

You could possibly try an earlier dated driver

And lastly i didn't exactly get what you're saying as far as what your using, so let me get this straight you're trying to hook up your computer to a Sony TV right?(LCD? i assume) and you also have a widescreen PC monitor that you can also test? but that didn't work either?

What resolution does your Sony TV support? (1080i/p or does it say a max of 1333x768) Did you connect it through the VGA or DVI/HDMI connection?

i couldn't seem to find the WXVGA standard resolution, but i'm guessing its 1920x1080...

You've uninstalled and reinstalled the drivers right...is there a specific location where you can "Enable" high definition resolutions?

My LCD monitor supports 1680 x 1050.
The LCD TV supports 1920 x 1080.

Also tested on another Widescreen LCD at 1333x (what ever)

I just need any of the 3 6000 series video cards to display any 16x9/10 resolution so the image is not stretched.

Tried latest drivers, original drivers. The 3 video cards are all in new computer builds (separate computers)

Sorry but i want to clarify , does it state 1080p or 1080i. For example my LCD tv supports 1080i but its maxed optimized resolution is 1777x1000, anything higher than that and it will go off screen.

Again are you using a DVI/HDMI or VGA cable to display this?

Did the widescreen settings work on you're widescreen monitor?

I dont know off hand the maximum resolution of the TV monitor input VIA VGA. It is a 1080i, but supports full resolution of 1920 x 1080.

The Westinghouse i dont have any idea, though it has VGA and DVI inputs. Neither allows the video card to display or offer WXVGA.

The computer monitor... actually,.... i need to retry. I just assumed that if it didnt work on the LCD tv, it wouldn't on the LCD monitor.

well then if you are absolutely sure that even though the display is 1080i it still supports 1920x1080 then it must be a driver issue. I guess you might have to try calling nvidia.

Reply to IcY18

One TV supports up to 1080i
The other is 720

I dont care what resolution I can display, as long as its the correct aspect ratio (wide)

did you ever figure out if the widescreen monitor works? i mean if that works then we could narrow it down to something else i guess

Reply to IcY18

Doing that when I get home. Should have thought about it first lol
Why I didnt was because I read that the 6000 series didn't support it, so never tried.

my 6600gt supported through both dvi and vga

I have a Dell 2405FPW which native res is 1920 by 1200
i have had many videocards work with it including some onboard videocards from my motherboards. 6600gt, FX5200, 4200TI, 7600GT (all NVidia, no ati in house) as for onboard, sis & via chipsets from older motherboards for testing purposes. all recognised my display fine without any extra monitor inf files.

just because the monitor supports a resolution don't mean that it supports it nativly though... but it should detect the aspect ratio correctly...
perhaps a third party tool like powerstrip might solve the problem.

Best of luck to you.
