I ordered a hard drive that I needed urgently. It never shipped. Today I notice on their web page that it says there is some credit problem. It definitely is not a problem with the card, nor with the shipping address, and no one from your company ever contacted me to ask a single question.

Whatever someone in your company thinks is the problem, it should have been immediately communicated to me so that I could straighten them out.

This behavior is unacceptable.

NO! DO NOT ORDER ANYTHNIG FROM THEM. serversupply.com is a scam. They advertise products as GENUINE manufacture and then ship you counterifet knockoffs. KEEP AWAY FROM THEM. They tried to pull that scam on me and when I told them I wanted to send back the crap they shipped me they said there would be a "restocking charge". Don't get ripped off. Buy your parts from somewhere else. Be Warned!

We all have occasional problems with vendors.

I checked Server Supply in the net and found good reviews, with the occasional negative: http://reviews.pricegrabber.com/serversupplycom/r/1636/ and here http://www.epinions.com/pr-Online_Stores_Services-Serve.... And, no ripoffreport.com mentions.

Also checked for anything about the alleged HP lawsuit; found nothing.

I would encourage Server Supply participant to interact with rlwidman and mailbox8150 to see if there is anything they can do to deal with their complaints.

what was your order number ???

Don't waste your time or your money! I ordered a motherboard and after receiving it and having an I.T. company install it, I find out that apparently there are multiple versions and Server Supply can't possibly tell if they have the version I need or not because they ship from a warehouse and all they go by is part numbers (so....if there's a way for whatever you need to vary, most likely you would not get the part you need). Oh and by the way.....now there is also a restocking fee that we just conveniently forgot to mention to you.
June 30, 2010 6:45:56 PM

I had a similar experience buying a hard drive from them. The drive I received had an older firmware version than what I needed (it's a RAID 0 thing). Checked with Seagate support and found out the drive had OEM firmware that could not be upgraded. My only option was to get a different drive. Contacted Serversupply.com to see if I could swap the one they sent for one I could actually use. Nope. They only work with model numbers; no way for them to differentiate between drives that have different firmware. Best they could offer was for me to return the drive (at my cost) and pay for a restocking fee of 20% + 8.95. Which would leave me back at square one, only with less cash in my pocket. Gee... thanks. :??:

So today I found a drive on Ebay: same model number AND the right firmware version! Imagine that! Someone with the sense to consider such a detail! That someone was computerstyle0678 (computerstyles@roadrunner.com). Next time I need a drive, that's where I'll likely be going. In any case, I WON'T be returning to ServerSupply.com. That much I know for sure.

DO NOT BUY from them. I purchased a SCSI tape drive from them, the first and then second (replacement) drives I received were both defective. I assumed the second (replacement drive) was not defective and ended trying to get it to work for several weeks; by replacing cables and SCSI controller cards. By the time I had figured that the second replacement drive was defective, serversupply.com would not send a third replacement because it was outside their 30 Day warranty period. I noted to them that both drives sent never worked and they refused to try to resolve the issue. I ended up paying $100 for a non-functional tape drive. I will never do business with again.

Avoid ServerSupply they have no integrity or honor as a company or individually.

I purchased 5 HDD's from them that were advertised as new. They arrived in opened packages and none would boot after loading OS. I contacted them with-in the 30 warranty period and was sent this email from Habib Rahima:

"From: rahima@serversupply.com

Hi
we are sorry for that but can you let me know if the problem having because of firmware or what kind of error you getting?so we can issue the RMA for you
Thank You"

I sent the information to him and then got this email:

"Hi
we are sorry its out of warranty. Please note that ServerSupply give 30days warranty.so we cant issue the RMA on this right now
Thank You"

Do not buy from them, you will get ripped off and probably have your ID and credit card information stolen.

I ordered a Seagate Barracuda ES.2 drive for our server--found ServerSupply.com from a link on PriceWatch.com.

The drive just arrived today, and it's a reconditioned drive, which was never stated on PriceWatch or their site. I called them to complain, and they said if you click the "Item Details" link, you can see at the bottom that it says "CONDITION : SYSTEM PULL CLEAN TESTED"

Problem is, they show a photo of a NEW hard drive, and never mention that it's used unless you happen to click the tiny item details link on this page: https://www.serversupply.com/products/part_search/searc...

I do this kind of stuff for a living, so I'm no dummy when it comes to shopping and ordering online. They're obviously trying to hide the fact that they're selling used drives, and I told them so. They would only refund my money if I paid to ship the drive back to them. What a pile of poop!
September 14, 2010 9:21:45 PM

I have ordered through this company on two occasions and they have shipped the incorrect part both times. They insist when I call that the part number they ship is a replacement part for the part that I ordered while I can see that the new and old parts are clearly not compatible, and can verify this through HP's website.

I had be belligerent to get them to provide a return shipping label and, when they did, they responded by "flagging my account" so that I could no longer make purchases from their store. What a noble way to treat a customer.

I was so enraged by my experience with Server Supply, Inc. that I'm writing this review. If you have a choice, don't go near this merchant.

I bought two Fujitsu U320 147GB 10K hard drives as spares for a SCSI disc array. I got around to using them about 80 days after purchasing them, and discovered they were defective. Serversupply.com refused to exchange them, citing their 30 day return policy. I suggested they take them both back and just send me 1 replacement drive, and they refused that as well. I know that technically they are within their rights to refuse my request since it was outside of 30 days, but it still feels like they are selling shoddy merchandise and refusing to stand behind it. A good merchant would have done something for me.
December 1, 2010 1:04:49 PM

I would avoid using Serversupply.com.

I ordered a replacement harddrive for my ipod. The listing online indicated that it was new. I installed it, and upon restarting my ipod it was listing my ipod as Coby's ipod, so it seems to me that it was recycled from another ipod. Of course, when I was syncing my music library to this "new" drive, it stalled, forcing me to disconnect the drive from my computer. When I tried again, it simply said the drive was corrupt or damaged and would not recognize it. Thanks for wasting my money ServerSupply.com. I will be buying an ipod touch today, which is what I should have done from the beginning.

I bought an Intel motherboard and it DID NOT WORK. Unfortunately it was past 30 days, so no returns, and no warranty of any kind since it was "New Bulk". They charge a restocking fee plus a handling fee for returns. Avoid like the plague! Sometimes the lowest price isn't the best deal.
June 7, 2011 6:06:46 PM

I've ordered from them on several different occasions and I've been pretty satisfied so far. 3 SCSI hard drives, 2 hotswap power supplies, 1 older Xeon Irwindale CPU [Edit:] and another 2 Xeon Irwindales this week.

Some things to remember:

- You probably ended up at serversupply because they have everything and they're alot cheaper than everyone else. Logically you have to ask yourself why, and proceed with a proportional degree of caution.

- Serversupply, like many business-oriented parts warehouses, is a relative tradeoff of peace of mind for discount. You go there if you know what you're doing, don't need pretty websites and hand holding, and can hold your own in terms of testing within the stated replacement period. I've found them to be professional but relatively strict with their policies, certainly more so than the average consumer would expect. Consumers making an investment that comprises a significant portion of their income should look elsewhere. This place is more for business.

- They don't post actual photos of their items. If you're doing your shopping in a massive online warehouse, this is one thing you might expect. Taking actual photos would require actually taking a picture of their entire stock since most of it is pulled from used or overstock systems, and have varying outer appearances. Places that deal in secondhand items and spend the time and money it takes to post actual photos either have less inventory or higher prices, and usually both.

- Anyone who claims to be no stranger to the business should be fully aware that they shouldn't be looking at product photos for an indication of the actual item's specs or condition. Many retailers use generic stock photos provided by the manufacturer and you should know this by now. If you don't, you honestly shouldn't be shopping here.

- If you spent time trying to get an item to work and missed the warranty period, that's really your mistake. Keep track of the warranty period and don't expect a bargain vendor to extend it for you, because otherwise they wouldn't be able to maintain their bargain prices. These are generally, again, pulled / used / refurbished / bulk parts, and when you order from a place like that you take on some extra responsibility yourself, to make absolutely sure they work right within the replacement period.

- Yes there's still a risk the product will fail outside the 30 day warranty, just like there's a risk anything new will fail outside its warranty. This is a risk you take on with every purchase, but more so when you choose to deal with secondhand / bulk merchandise.

- If you're uncomfortable with any of the above, pay for the extra level of comfort you seek by spending a little more somewhere else. That's the tradeoff.

I see some complaints that fall outside the above categories. Maybe the company made mistakes in their product listings and didn't stand behind them like they should've. I can't say. I can only speak for my own experiences, which have been good so far.

I can say I tried another similar vendor recently and the service was terrible (allhdd.com, I suggest avoiding them). They took forever shipping me the wrong item and similarly took forever issuing an RMA while making me pay return shipping, then took forever again issuing me a refund, when I had asked for a replacement. I went back to serversupply for the same item, it arrived in two days packaged well and worked fine.

Edit: I actually just received my latest Xeon CPU order. Had to deal with customer service over the phone cause I never got a tracking number -- they sent it within 20 minutes of the phone call and the CPUs came about two hours later. Installed and working as expected.

“This place sucks, I ordered the wrong drive and they would not let me exchange it for another drive. They wanted me to pay 15% restocking $8.95 which was more than half the cost the drive itself. DO YOUR SELF A FAVOR AND SHOP ELSEWHERE!!!”

ALLHDD.COM IS HORRIBLE! That deserverd all CAPS.

I placed order number 95319 October 2, 2011 for a replacement system board. I recieved the incorrect system board October 6, 2011. I emailed their sales department and their RMA department over the next 11 days. I finally got a response on October 17, 2011 that states "please submit return request from web page. thanks"! So on October 18, 2011 I submitted the return request through the web site. Through the ticket portal online that they force you to use, I updated the ticket again on October 19, 2011 that states "Still waiting on return instructions". October 20, 2011 I updated and stated "I still have not recieved any information. My email address and cell phone number are both listed under the contact information for my account. I can be reached by either method or by simply updating your ticket here". Four days after the ticket was created (October 22, 2011), they made their first update to the ticket and simply asked for the serial number. I responded with the serial number! November 2, 2011 I updated the ticket with "I NEED AN UPDATE ON THIS ASAP!!!! I AM AVAILABLE AT (***)***-****!!!! THIS IS ALMOST A MONTH OLD NOW AND I HAVE ONLY RECIEVED ONE RESPONSE ASKING FOR A SERIAL NUMBER!!!! On Novemeber 3, 2011 I entered ??????????????? (***)***-****. Still no response!!!! I am truelly regretting ever going to ALLHDD.COM for anything. Will never use them again! Worst company EVER!!!

I ordered Thnikpad X6 Docking base for my Lenovo Thinkpad X61. What I received was X6 without the CVD/CD cartrige. As X6 includes the cartrige, server supply later took out the cartrige and shipped it without the cartrige.

This is a misrepresentation of advertisement.

I ordered three SAS 15K HP hard drives for a VMWare server that I built in December. First time using serversupply.com because my company's usual Nationwide supplier had HDs back-ordered until April due to the floods in Thailand. Well, I walked into the office this morning and 2 of the 3 hard drives failed overnight less than two months after I purchased these drives.

Upon pulling the failed drives out, I double checked the dates on the drives... they have stickers dated November 2011. However, after looking closer I see the actual manufactured date is 2007. These newly purchased drives are 5 years old! They are falsely advertised as NEW bulk on the order page.

If you are in need of server supplies for critical applications then I would HIGHLY recommend that you DO NOT order from serversupply.com. You are paying slightly lower than MSRP for something that is either used or old. Go elsewhere.

However if you need like a cooling fan, a heatsink, or something else that won't affect your uptime then go ahead and order from them. If you are in any way in need of a NEW part, stay far away and don't waste your money here.

I ordered an Intel I3 laptop processor on Sunday. I only received a receipt for payment on Monday, no shipping confirmation. I ended up calling their customer support number on Tuesday. The lady spoke in Chinese accent and sounded very nervous. She rushed me through the conversation as i was trying to get information on when my package would ship. I was completely respectful to her and it seemed she was just waiting to get off the phone. She said it is in a warehouse, she doesn't know when it will ship, but would let me know by phone call the next day. Wednesday came, and no phone call. Late Wednesday night i received an email from them with my tracking number. I paid for 3 day shipping, but my package is not supposed to arrive until Monday now, 8 days after ordering. Hopefully it's a real Intel. lol.

I ordered a server raid cache battery from serversupply.com and it was DOA and occasionally that happens. That's not why I'm writing this review. They refunded the original price but they did not refund the shipping and I had to pay to ship the battery back. I chose them because they had the best price but I had to pay for shipping both ways for a DOA component. Their customer service is sub par and I'll pay more somewhere else for better service.

Bad experience with Server Supply, Inc.

I ordered a used replacement HDD for an old Dell computer. After re-formatting the drive and loading my operating system, I ran the drive for about a week when it started throwing continuous errors, BSOD and so on. After running several disk checks, I realized that this was a failing HDD with many bad sectors and clusters. Much worse than my original HDD that this one was purchased to replace.

I emailed Server Supply with an explanation of the problems and a picture of the screen showing the errors asking for a replacement, but never received a response.

I chalked this up to a bad experience and will never use server supply again but I also want to make sure anyone else who considers using them can at least consider my experience before doing so.

Thank you for reading.

I ordered a hd for my laptop; they sent me some powersupply instead, got the return label right away and I thought it would be resolved. I saw that the returned item was received by them 2 days ago and I emailed(2 days ago) to find out when they were shipping the correct item - still no response. I emailed again today - still no response - the reviews I'm seeing here is starting to worry me...I will update this board when resolved - stay tuned!

Do not buy from these people. They sell used merchandise as new. I bought two xeon CPUs and they were used. The lady explained that they are sold as bulk, if you pay $800 then you get the manufacture warranty, if not only 30 days warranty only. The items are used. And I have pics to show that they have been used. Do not buy from these people.

HORRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE, HORRIBLE PRODUCTS!!!

Bought a $160.00 Seagate Hard Drive and it arrived nonfuntional. I called to return it and they refused to pay for the shipping back to them. I asked to speak to a manager and was told 3 different times in 2 seperate days that the managers are out. During the 3rd phone call I was told all managers were out to lunch and then hung up on...mid sentence! I normally don't write reviews, but this is something I do for a living and in all my years I have never experienced such awful service in this business. Stay away from them!
May 6, 2013 10:12:13 AM

Terrible experience.

I ordered 7 apples and was given 6 edible apples and a rotten apple.

Serversupply says they will send us another apple to replace the rotten one but we got an orange instead.

We were told that the orange tastes just like an apple and it should work but it didn't .

Serversupply then convinced us to ship the orange back so that they can give us the right edible apple.

We spent a good amount to ship the orange across the globe and here's the wonderful reply,

'We no longer have the apples(disks) in stock.'

Several emails were sent to ask if they are going to replace the item or refund the money but Serversupply ignored the emails for nearly a month until we made a call to complain.

There was absolutely no remorse or any hint of regret from their end.

Yeah I will beat a dead horse

I ordered 'refurbished' opteron 280's from them a few years ago to give an obselete server a bit of a late-life face lift. I made the mistake of waiting a few weeks to install them as I assumed, being refurbished, they had been tested. Anyway the processors were e-waste and not functional, I contacted them 32 days after my purchase and spoke to everyone I could. They basically said FU .. all over ~$45.

They literally sell trash

Stay away from them. I ordered IBM Fiber Hard Drives Duals from them waited a few weeks to install due to scheduling downtime and when I installed them they we all single channel drives. I went back to my AMEX and BBB with no positive results. Server Supply would not return even though the part number on the box did not match the part number on the box. Run away from any good deal you think you getting here.

11-07-13 Beware of this company! I purchased a hard drive from Server Supply that was supposed to be refurbished. It was not. Had it checked out by two different qualified technicians that confirmed it was bad. Server Supply refused to refund my money. They are selling JUNK as refurbished item. Your taking a real chance purchasing anything from this company.

Do not order from them. They send out defective parts and when you try to return it they try to find a way to not let you return it or make you pay for the return shipment cost. I was fighting with an agent by the name Rahima who claimed to be the company manager. She sounded like a complete idiot who was trained to scam their customers.

Had to return item so cannot comment about it.
