We just got our new pc 2 months ago running Windows XP SP2. We just got Comcast cable service Monday including there internet service however I am unable to connect to the internet (I'm currently using dial up for now until I can use my Highspeed internet service) When it try's to connect my LAN says it has limited or no connectivity. I used ipconfig /release and renew, here's the results. Microsoft Windows XP [Version 5.1.2600]
(C) Copyright 1985-2001 Microsoft Corp.
C:\Documents and Settings\Compaq_Owner>ipconfig /release
C:\Documents and Settings\Compaq_Owner>ipconfig /renew
Windows IP Configuration
An error occurred while renewing interface Local Area Connection : unable to con
tact your DHCP server. Request has timed out.
C:\Documents and Settings\Compaq_Owner>
Also when I use PC Doctor to run a test on my Networt Controller everything passes escept the TCIP/IP the error message says Could not find remote host for testing. I had 4 Comcast techs over here at my house yesterday to try and fix this issue however they said that it's my pc and it may be my network controller because everything is working on there end and also I am able to connect online with Comcast using my Xbox 360 so something is going on with my pc. And it looks like its my network controller. I'm using a NVIDIA nForce Network Controller Ver. 5.9.0
Can someone please help me out on what may be wrong here and help me get connected to Comcast internet? Thanx
Also I have disabled my personal firewalls with no luck either.
Here's a copy of what one of my problem solving software came up with concerning my network.

What's that tunneling adapter listed in your IPconfig? Go to the properties of your ethernet port and see what protocols, etc are bound to it. It almost sounds like there's some sort of VPN client installed, maybe it's messing stuff up. I know this will sound silly, but is your DHCP client service enabled? I assume you have a router since you're using your Xbox with the service as well. If so, try setting a static IP and pinging the router. That should at least tell you if your ethernet controller is functioning.
Re-install your nForce drivers and DON'T install the Network Manager software. (Choose yes to the SW IDE driver, but NO to the Network software at the end of the chipset driver install)
You will still have driver support, just no problematic nForce network program
Could you guys give me like a walkthrough on how to do your suggestions? I'm sorry but I'm not all computer literate, I know like basic stuff but when it comes to stuff like this I pretty much need a walkthrough on how to do it. Thanx.
Well it looks like my network adapter was faulty. How do I know? I went to Staples and picked up a Linksy's network adapter and I am now online using our Comcast service so thanx for the help guys but it's no longer needed.
