I would go with the HX from Corsair. They are some of the best you can buy, and for sure one of the best modular PSUs you can buy. Antec are usually good, but different models are made with different quality and that makes me apprehensive to buy any of their mid-range units.

Thanks for the super quick reply.

I see you use OCZ GameXStreme 700 Watt and that has x4 12v rails at 18amps each

I have found a 600w version for £70

would that be a better buy?

thanks

Neither.Go with THERMALTAKE TOUGH POWER.They have enhanced safety features to help keep the rest of your comp from blowing up in case your power bar craps out,as well as using the highest quality components.Add to that a three year warranty(two more than industry standard)and you have protection that is backed up.Not to mention the modular cable design which in fact lets you pick how many cables to use so you don't have an excess of them cluttering the inside of your case.Goodluck.Oh ya.the power supply has 4 12volt rails,2@18amps and 2@30amps.

Either PSU you pick will do the job. Both PSu's are good brand PSU's. Both will power you sig without a problem. Corsair HX is better PSU overall.

Corsair all the way.

Neither.Go with THERMALTAKE TOUGH POWER

Actually most thermaltakes would be beat by the corsair.

a three year warranty

Corsair has a 5-year warranty

Not to mention the modular cable design which in fact lets you pick how many cables to use so you don't have an excess of them cluttering the inside of your case

The Corsair is also modular and has better sleeved cables than the TT. They are fully sleeved with a flexforce-ish design.

Oh ya.the power supply has 4 12volt rails,2@18amps and 2@30amps.

There is no way it has 30 amps on two of the rails unless you could possibly be talking about the 850W version which would be extreme overkill over the two power supplies the OP picked out.

Don't get me wrong the TT is a good quality power supply. The Corsair is just so much better (looks better, better warranty/features).

Corsair or the Thermal Take have good reviews on www.jonnyguru.com
I personally use the TT 750 Modular, it is good.

Read the reviews for all three models on jonnyguru, and then decide.

Thanks for the input guys.

Think i'm gonna go with the OCZ gameXstreme 600W as it has four 12v rails at 18amps each and is a similar price as the corsair which has only three 12v rails.

I take it i am doing the right thing in that more 12v rails is better?

love that wooden case btw. might make one myself out of playdo

The corsair is a great PSU, however you are correct in assuming the OCZ 600w with 4xrails might be the better buy. It might not be "quite" as efficient as the Corsair but they're very close and 4xrails will give you that much more futureproofing if you decide to do SLI or Crossfire in the future. Its a solid PSU.

Either the Corsair or the OCZ are great choices in the end.
