Help with Elder Brain in HotU!

Has anybody else had this problem?
From the Illithid city, I can't get the Seer to acknowledge that the
Eldar Brain has accepted the mirror. The first time I tried it, I did it
the peaceful way. I negotiated instead of fighting, the Brain accepted
it, but when I got back to the Seer it said I had killed the Brain.
Duh, huh? No way!
The second time I did it the fighting way. I attacked the Venerator and
got thru all the halls and tunnels to get to the amplifier, made it
dissapear, then got the Brain to surrender. A lot more fun this way and
it accepted the mirror again. But when I got to the Seer it was just as
if I had never done the Illithid city at all. There was nothing listed
to report, and the journal still had the task to do.

What's the deal? It's like they didn't test this part of the script at
all.
How do I fix it? And how do I get around this error?
