no.

The 680i will not have PCI Express 2.0 considering it was just standardized.

PCI Express (PCIe) 2.0 probably will first arrive about a year from now, said Al Yanes, chairman of the PCI SIG.
"As with PCIe 1.0, we expect the graphics guys to be the first adopters of PCIe 2.0," Yanes said.

PCI Express turns 2.0

Don't expect any immediate benefits from getting a PCIe 2.0 motherboard and graphics card. These are only incremental improvements. The current bandwidth of PCIe 1.1 is still not fully unitized. This is a feature that you don't wait for, only a feature you choose if you have an option between PCIe 1.1 and PCIe 2.0. It is an evolutionary step, not a revolutionary one.

PCI-SIG have only just confirmed what PCIe 2.0 will be. For the moment it's a paper only specification.

I believe that the first chipsets to implement PCIe 2.0 will be Intel's 'Bearlake' chipsets that are coming out in the second half of this year along with their 'Penryn' processors.

The only thing Ive heard for sure is that the intel bearlake based boards x38/p35 due to arrive in q3/q2 will definitely support pcie 2.0 (and ddr3 :) ) .

I vaugley remember a report from ces mentioning asus's plans to release a nv based board with it, but no release date was mentioned.

Power supplys are already available with the pcie 2.0 8 pin connections, so I don't think it will be very long before we see mobos come out as well.

Great news as the price of 2-4 slot PCIE-X16 slot motherboards should come down in price because just 1 PCIE 2.0 link could handle 4 slots at 8X speeds. This would be a motherboard on the cheap and require GPU's based on PCIE 2.0 for the full bandwidth.

MEh.... most video cards still don't use all the x8 bandwidth. They're getting close though...

I don't see PCI-E 2.0 being advantageous for another 2-3 years (in video cards). But it's good they're on top of it... PCI lasted WAY too long. (it's still lasting too long, lol)

True the bandwidth is more than 3 or 4 GPU can use. I only see it bring down prices by spliting the lanes of 1 PCIE-X32 2.0 across 2 or even 4 slots.
