I have noticed that certain armor cancels the Ranger Abilities.
How do you know which ones will not affect his abilities?

Light armour (leather, studded leather, hide, etc) won't have any
effect on your ranger abilities. You won't be able to use them,
however, if you wear medium and heavy (stufff like chain, scale and
plate). The ranger's almost as much about being stealthy and quick as
a rogue is, and you can't exactly sneak and hide very well if you're
rattling and clanging around like a bag of kitchen utensils. Plus
there's the "all natural" factor, kind of like a druid.

IIRC light armour wont, but anything heavier will.

If you wear medium or heavy armor, you lose your dual-weilding feat
(ambidexterity & two-weapon fighting as well as improved two-weapon
fighting for 9th level rangers) unless you've taken those feats on
their own.
