Problem with sound on my PC

The sound volume has been progressively lowering, and now I have to set it up to the max in order to get a very low volume! The same speakers I use on my PC works perfectly in other PC's or in my PS3! So I guess it may be a degeneration of the sound hardware of my PC. I have a simple onboard sound hardware on my motherboard. Could it be possible, a degeneration of the sound hardware?

Yes it could be. You may have to get a sound card to install in your computer and disable the onboard sound.

But the speakers are working perfectly in my PS3 and in other PC's!!
