Hey guys, I know component and RGB are two different things in regaurds the the singaling... But is it possible to use component cable for a RGB connection? More specifically, can I use a VGA to component cable for a VGA to RGB connection? Thanks!
No you can't. VGA to component will make the signal in the form of components (Y,Pb,Pr) which is what the device on the other end will see. If you plug this into RGB, that will interpret the Y signal as R and so forth, so the picture will be totally off. If you had software that would on-the-fly convert YPbPr to RGB and trick VGA into accepting this, then I think it would work.
