I need a new C2D Asus board, I will not be overclocking and don't need Raid. I have a video card already and I want onboard sound. I was thinking of the P5B Deluxe WiFi. Do you think this board is overkill? If so which board then? Asus preferably.

I don't game, and I picked the P5B Deluxe (non-Wifi) over the -E to be a little future-proof: extra PCI-X16 slot, better sound chip, extra SATA connectors, and quad ready (not sure if the -E is quad capable). Also, I liked the layout better -- IDE and Floppy connex -- for the case I put it in (HTPC).

my ram is @ stock settings, vcore 1.3875, nb 1.40v, 8*400 was EASY, I can up the fsb but i want to keep my temps down, and 3.2 e6400 is more than enough for me.

Mad,

Do not go directly to the @ssmans settings!!!

You need to move those things gradually and test between steps!!!

Not all procs/memory/MBs are the same and you could potentially cause damage.

Slow and steady wins this race ;)

Thanks for the heads-up. Do you think, even with the same CPU, MB, and RAM?

The P5B is a known good OC board, and the E6400 is a known good OCer as well so chances are GOOD that you will be able to hit similar if not better.

Be careful to monitor temps as well.

Do a search on here for the Wusy OC guide for C2D and you would be suprised how much info is in there for ya.

Are you on stock cooling? If so watch temps very actively while testing.

Look for idle temps and @ load temps.
