This would be good news indeed, but a bit expected. ATI needs to release an initial top to bottom product line with the R600 because nVidia is unveiling their mid-low range 8000 series products around the same time the R600 stuff is due out. Can't wait to see the benchmarks from all of them.
si. the inq. usually has 50% of the facts right. i think they just guess on the other 50%
Who was that person that forced a PCI-E card into an agp slot?
Maybe we can saw the 12" card into 2 pieces and glue a PCI-E connector to the 2nd piece so we have Crudfire mode.
February 28th is the day where R600 card samples will be available to manufacturers and press while AMD continues working hard to launch R600 @ CeBIT. There are two versions; a 12" for OEMs and a 9" for the end users. No info as yet on their differences. According to INQ, AMD won’t let ATI release the new chip without being able to ship it in volumes so that lead to some delay.
Wasn't there an earlier report/rumor that the 12 inch card was only for oems? and that the retail versions would all be 9? Ah here I found it: LINK
