Hi,
I am trying to configure our W2k terminal server but
another admin has configured the security policy.
I am logging on as the local administrator.
I am unable to see the network permissions when I try and
get the following error:
"You do not have permission to open the Networks and dial-
up connections folder"
What is the name / location of this policy in the local
group policy editor , or alternatively, where is a
registry key for this?

Thanks.
Steve

Those settings are configured under user configuration/administrative
templates/network/network and dial up connections. Note that if this computer is
a domain member, policy may be configured at a higher priority level such as
domain/OU. You can use gpresult to see what policies are applied to a domain
computer. Domain level policies can be filtered to not apply to administrators
by giving the administrators deny permissions to apply for the GPO. --- Steve

I've disabled all the settings in this catagory on both
the local GP and the domain GP. I have run gpresult and
the machine appears only to be receiving settings from
local and domain policies. The problem still occurs. Any
other ideas?

Did it show any other GPO's for user configuration? If the TS is in it's own GPO,
check that GPO in case loopback processing is enabled on it. Also a domain level
policy can take up to two hours to propagate. Run secedit /refreshpolicy user_policy
/enforce and logoff and log back on to see if it makes a difference. Gpresult /u /v
will show what registry settings are applied by which policy which may help. Look
under user configuration administrative templates registry settings. You can port it
to a text file as in gpresult /u /v > file.txt. --- Steve
