I opened my big mouth at work and told my boss how I had setup a server for home use that I can access from the Internet. Now I am building one for work.

We are on a Netgear GS508T Gigabit ethernet switch which is connected directly to the cable modem. I just use port forwarding at home to access my server, but (ASFAIK) the switch does not support port fowarding.

Do I need to get a router and hook that to the server and then hook the switch to the router? Basicly I am confused on how the outside world will access the server if it is just on a switch.

Any tips or pointers in the right direction would be much appreciated.
