Good OC? Should I push it more?

Yo,

I'm currently running my e6400 at 3.0ghz, vcore at 1.375 and my temps are staying below 60c in Core Temp while running Orthos Blend. My setup is Asus P5B Deluxe, 2gig Geil PC-6400 RAM and cooling using 3 120mm case fans and an Arctic Cooling Freezer 7 Pro.

My question is basically should Istick with where I am or is it worth pushing it further? I use it for games and music producion.

try 8*400, as you can see i have a similar rig, i tried 1.375 with that clock but failed dual prime95, i increased vcore by one notch 1.3875v and it's stable. gl

I second that, push for 3.2, I've got pretty much the same set up as you and I'm at 400fsb with <1.3vcore stable

I just overclocked an e6300 with the same HSF (with AS5) to 3.0ghz on stock voltage with no stability issues in Orthos blend. Temps are 35-36 idle and 50 under load. The voltage you are using sounds high to me for only 3.0ghz. Just my experience and thoughts.

Hmm I just came back to it after a few more hours in Orthos (which had passed all tests) and core temp was reading 45C, but speedfan was reading 88C! Now, I'm pretty sure 88C is impossible, should I just ignore it?

I'm gonna back the voltage off a bit too just to be safe i reckon.

Which version of speedfan are you using? ... Try either CoreTemp or new version of speedfan (4.32). They both reports same temp.

I was using speedfan 4.31, maybe that explains it. Bizarrely since the overclock my fps in game have plummeted to single figure. I've tried a bunch of different things with my GPU in ATI Tray Tools, but I can't work out why! Anyone got any ideas?

Well after a very late night and numerous attempts at reseating graphics cards, backing off the overclock to the where i had it a few days ago etc, I finally solved the problem!

All it needed in the end was loosening my memory timings from 4.4.4.12 to 5.5.5.18, and my fps (campaign map on Medieval 2 TW as example) went from 7 to 70!
