More Information

Hey, everybody,

I've been using and building computers for many years now, but today I faced one of the strangest things I've ever seen.

But let me tell you what it's about, maybe someone has an explanation...

This morning I turned on the computer, and, normally, the first thing I saw, was the Asus boot logo. So far, nothing out of the ordinary. Usually, this logo stays on the screen for several seconds, during the POST sequence. But it passed more than 30 seconds, and it was still there.
Still not a mistery, it happened to me before, sometimes a USB device or a faulty IDE / SATA cable can cause this.

But... after several more seconds I couldn't believe my ears... I heard in the speakers the Windows startup logo!!! The computer actually continued the booting process, even if on the screen there was still the Asus logo.

And so, after several more seconds, I had a fully loaded and operational OS on the background, but... on the screen only the Asus logo :( :( :(

Did anyone else bumped into this? I consider it veeeeerry strange... it's like the graphics card was not synchronised with the motherboard anymore...

Here is my PC configuration:
Intel P4 2.6 GHz, socket 478
MB Asus P4C800-E Deluxe
4 x 512 MB PC-3200 DDR Corsair
HDD 250 GB Western Digital
Radeon X800 XLA GeCube
Every component is running at its default parameters, nothing was overclocked.

So, please, let me know if you have some ideeas about this...

Thanks,
Ovi
