Explain this difference for me...

I'm looking at LCDs, and am favoring picking up one made by Samsung but am a little confused with all their model numbers floating around...

I was considering both the 171P and the 181T, but didn't notice any real difference in the spec sheets I saw, besides of course screen size.

They both had a contrast ratio of 500 to 1 and had a response time of 25ms.

Are the specs I read off, or are those two things really the same and there is some other difference that justifies the different model endings (T and P)?

It looks like they are both running roughly the same price, I thought the 18 inch screen would cost more considering the specs 2 specs I thought were most important for LCDs were the same...

I was reading some posts and heard some mention of a new LCD technology people are waiting for... can someone explain what improvments are going to be made, and give the timeframe they can be expected to happen?
