Hi all,

I recently upgraded my operating system from Windows 98 to Windows XP Home
Edition. One strange problem I've had since the upgrade is that I now can't
get any sound from my Roland SC8850 sound module through my PC monitors. I
hear all other system sounds ok & CDs & MP3s play fine but nothing from my
SC8850.

I've had the SC8850's main L & R audio outputs connected to my PC's Line In
via an rca-to-small stereo jack-cable & this setup has worked fine until
now. The headphones output on the SC8850 seems to work fine but I now can't
hear any sound fgrom the SC8850 thru my montiors. Any ideas on how to
rectify this situation?

Any advice is greatly appreciated, thanks.

Chris

Have you checked the advanced volume control to see if any of the controls
are either muted or the slider all the way down? I have seen mine changed
following a major upgrade. If the speaker icon is in the tray, right click
on it and choose Volume Control. If not open the Control Panel, Sounds
Speech and Audio Devices, Advanced Audio Controls. You can check the box to
show the speaker item while you are at it (if desired). If everything there
looks OK, check the Sounds and Audio Devices Properties box (right click on
Sounds and Audio Devices). Just some thoughts in case you had not checked
these.

Ah ha! I have fixed the problem, the Line In was muted somewhere in the
chain. Thanks for your reply.

Cheers,
Chris
