Great set. I've seen the 50" model extensively. They are my personal
favorite model when it comes to DLP and LCD RPTVs. If you like the
current crop of Samsung DLPs, you may be able to find deals on them
given that the new line is dues out this Summer. BTW, no cons as far as
I can tell, other than the usual DLP/LCD black-level problems. A good
calibration is a requirement: do it yourself with DVE or Avia if you
don't want to spring for a professional.

There were lamp life issues, but apparently Sony has found an alternative
source so that may be behind them. The new units that will be out soon might
be worth the wait. Several of my friends have that set on my recommendation
and they all love the set.

Also the screen door effect that all RPT LCD's have - really more of a
minor issue.

Screen door effect? If you are talking about seeing the pixel pattern, you
have to be almost nose to the screen to even see it. I have seen more screen
door effect on plasmas, not LCDs.

I definately find it noticeable on some of the bigger (60+) Grand Wegas -
even from 7 or 8 feet back. The 42 is not nearly as noticeable, though...

I don't find it to be a huge issue - I'd probably not even notice it after I
got used to the television.
