Can I install the newer 3 Gb/s hard drives on a motherboard that has 1.5 Gb/s SATA ports without problems? I have a ASUS M2V motherboard? javascript:emoticon(':?')

yes.

ON some drives you might need to install a jumper. There should be instructions.

it should be since there was change to the pinout or voltages. If it has a jumper like the Seagate 7200.10 series you would need to install it if not then it will probably just auto adjust. But if i were getting a new drive i would get the 7200.10 series since it has NCQ and PMR recording.
