When do you guys think that having 4GB of ram will be worth it? (obviously after 64-bit support improves, but when do you think there will be apps that take advantage of it aside from high end video editing)

depends on a lot of factors I think. Like:

1. What kind of programs will you be using?
2. How much do you really multitask.
3. And operating system

I just built a rig, and I went ahead and invested in 4GB of RAM because I know what i'll be doing. I like to run Photoshop, Flash, AfterEffects, Dreamweaver, multiple instances of web browsers, iTunes, AIM, etc. all at once.

Better to have more now imho.

1gb is still usually enough.

Vista, and newer games should be pushing 2gb to the limit, or might need more.

Games that are already released, 7Zip on Ultra, heavy CCE encodes, or virtualization etc. can all exceed 1.2GB.

if u got that $$$'s go 4 it but 2gig will be fine

Is it the RAM that gives you the faster BF2 load times, or your CPU and HDD? Reason I ask is that I have a Raptor and E6600 but only 2GB RAM and I always seem to load first as well........

I am really interested in this question as well. About to build a new system.

I am really maxed out on the budget. Do you think I am better off getting a second 150 raptor and going raid 0 or moving from 2 gig to 4 gig?

Go for the RAM if you are planning on Vista anytime soon. Don't know much about RAID improvements.... think it may improve windows load times (from analysing the results of guy who beat me on PC Mark) but have heard it can actually slow data throughput so........ dunno sorry :?
