I have 2 computers, one of them has a broad band connection. I want to share the broadband connection w/ another computer using only my second lan card on the computer w/ the broadband connection. How do I go about in doing this??

1 of my comp. is using Win XP while the other is running Win 2000 sp4
My LAN card are both realtek 10/100 mbps

I would put the second LAN card on the Win XP box and then run the "Set up a new network" wizard in it. Yes, it's an actual Microsoft wizard that works and does its job. Remember, the Win XP box will be your "residential gateway" when you run the wizard. On the Win 2000 box, you can either set it to automatically get an IP address, or save the configuration in the last part of the Win XP wizard. Hope this helped.

Thnx wiii for the help, but the i forgot to mention that my comp that is running the win XP is a laptop that has only 1 LAN port, and the one running the win 2000 sp4 is adesktop w/c has 2 lan card installed.

Can I do it as you suggested but the other way around?? Because i noticed that win 2000 sp 4 has no networking wizard as win XP has.

Yes, it should work fine, you should then:
1) Use the wizard in your laptop saying it's going to connect through another computer
2) Save the settings onto a flash drive at the end of the wizard
3) Run the wizard on the desktop box (from the flash drive) and select the option that says other computers will connect through it.

Hope this helps!

I think you will need a cross-over cable between the two computers.

No prob, 13 :)

Funny, we both went different directions with our thoughts when reacting the the original post. I thought setup hardware, and you thought setup software. If I hadn't read your response, I woulda just said to get a crossover cable
