You guys see any socket 478 motherboard out there. Im trying to replace my sister's mobo and its pretty hard to find them.

I need something with 2 IDE ports, DDR memory support. AGP slot...I hope there is one out there.

Okay, since it's a dated platform, prices aren't cheap and availability isn't great. Since it's your sis's machine, i'll assume that utmost performance isn't a big factor, and price is. Hope i'm not wrong? :?

Biostar P4M80-M4: Cheap. Uses the VIA P4M800 chipset(ok, but not great).Has everything you'll need, but only 2 DIMM slots(for RAM).

Intel BOXD865GLC: Has everything you'll need and more. Uses the i865 chipset(very good) giving dual-channel RAM support..and Intel boards are generally well built and stable. A little more money, but i'd pick it for a cheap non-overclocking machine.

I see alot of Micro ATX platform. I always thought that was only for those mini portable cube desktop....would those fit in my mid-tower?

IDE HD's, almost all CD/DVD ROM's and burners are PATA. SATA is serial ATA. Data can flow both ways simultaneously. Most(not all) new drives are SATA, and a few companies are starting to manufacture SATA Optical drives(CD/DVD). With SATA, you can only have one "unit"(HD/DVD) per cable. With PATA, you can have 2 "units"/cable...slave and master. That motherboard has 2 SATA..thus 2 SATA units can be used. It also has 2 PATA connectors(2x2=4), so you have 2 PATA channels...each with a master/slave.....so 1xCD-ROM, IxCD-Burner, 2 x IDE hard drives. GL
