I recently purchased this set and while it looks wonderful overall,
there is an occasional buzzing noise (high pitch whine) that is
emitted from the rear of the set. This particular model was only
placed on the market during the first week of May...so there is little
info available.
After about 20-30 minutes of viewing, the set will begin to make this
noise. It seems a bit lower in pitch than a typical TV squeal. Once
this begins, walking over to the set and simply placing my hand upon
the case will cause the noise to cease. If I prop a magazine beneath
the set it will also stop and stay silent the rest of the night.
However, if I return the next day with the mag still in place...the
noise will begin after another 20-30 minutes. REMOVING the magazine
will then cause the noise to go away again for quite a while.
Applying pressure around the case at various strengths also causes the
noise to change a bit.
Some notes about the envrionment...
One potential issue is the stand. There is about 5-6 cm on each side
of the set that has no support and about 8-10 cm in the rear that has
no support. It is stable enough to remain in place...but the stand
can shake a bit and during the buzzing, tapping the floor with your
feet causes the TV to move just a bit (and cause variation in the
sound). If I was to place this on a large set with a truly flat
surface, could that help?
Another problem is the power going to the TV. There is a ground loop
issue present here. All TVs and my PC monitor demonstrate the effects
of this (and it varies by time of day) in the form of very light
rolling bars. I have no solution to this problem and it generally
doesn't bother me too much.
The sound has nothing to do with any devices either as unplugging all
cables from the set does not mean the sound will not still occur.
I have not been able to locate any information similar to this
problem. It seems that people with buzzing issues generally
experience them ALL the time.
