Group Policy Problem

Hello,

I am having a problem with my group policy's. The group
policy's are being applied on my Domain Controller which
is a Windows 2000 Server under the user configuration.

When a user logs on in the morning the group policy's take
effect lovely. If the user was to log off and then back on
again the users machine would end up in the state before
the policy's took effect.

For Example:
Our policy sets the internet home page to www.google.com
On 1st logon this works fine for the user
On 2nd logon their original home page appears i.e.
www.msn.com

If anyone has any ideas I would be greatful for your
suggestions.

Many Thanks

Hi Daniel-

If the change back to the old IE home page definetly occurs at second logon
then you can enable USERENV logging to see what group polices are processing
at the user logon.

It is possible that there is a GPO which is running at a refresh interval
(like 90 minutes or more) and the setting only becomes obvious after logon.

At any rate, the steps for enabling the USERENV logging are below:

221833 How to enable user environment debug logging in retail builds of
Windows
http://support.microsoft.com/?id=221833

After enabling the logging on an affected workstation, logon as a user that
runs into the problem. Then look at the USERENV file. You can search for
the user's username, then focus in on the ProcessGPOs entries to get the
most relevant portion of the log.

Please repost if we can help.
