physx card isnt worth the money. use the extra $200 to get the e6600 and a better mobo ASUS P5B-E LGA 775 Intel P965
you also need a better psu check out this list Official XS Tiered PSU Manufacturer Brand Listing Phase III something like this should be fine OCZ GameXStream 600W

Reply to drummerdude

Ditto, dont waste your money on a the physics processor
Also, get the antec nine hundred case.
Might want a 700+ watt psu aswell

Few comments...

Motherboard great find... that'll work.

However-- You're not getting a motherboard that supports DDR-2 800.. and you have DDR-2 800 on the list. From what I read there isn't any benefit from getting DDR-800 over DDR667 unless you want to Overclock... plus there is the headache factor of getting it to work at DDR-2 800

Sound Card-- wouldn't get the Augigy 4 SE. Not worth your money... if you want decent sound... go for the X-FI Pro Gamer for about $150 or the Audigy 2 ZS for $50. But for $2k, your willing to drop a lot so why not?

Not sure what benefit of having a physics card is... because you do have a 8800GTX? Never had one or had need for one you could use that $200 somewhere else. Maybe someone can elaborate on that...

CPU fan looks fun to assemble-- I love the choice and color not to mention it runs at 17 db. Not sure if you'll need a Replacement plan or not? Thats up to you... Thermeltake has a 3 yr warranty on all their parts versus other manufacturers who don't have anything.

Not sure... but would you rather have a blue mouse instead of the green one? Might match your blue case colors... its product #N82E16826153005

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Prod [...] 6826153005

Not sure if you're getting the Logitech keyboard for the LCD? To me thats worthless... Saitek makes a similier cooler looking keyboard if you're interested. The back lit keyboard would match your blue case colors because it could be blue, red, or purple...

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Prod [...] 6823175001

For fan colors your case already comes with LED fans? Not sure what you intend on accomplishing there... I'd stay with those, they won't look bad with the blue CPU cooler. If you want a different color, I'd go red versus green... might look better. Another comment is that you have a power supply added... could save some money (use toward a E6600 vs. 6300) because the case comes with a 500 W. See how that one is works first before getting another one and swapping it. I think it should given enough juice for what you're doing. If you were doing SLI, I'd say different. Just my suggestion... Those are either hit or miss.

Other parts look fine... great finds on a lot of them. Must have took a lot of time? But thats a lot of money... The system I just made an estimate for was $1100 with the monitor. that $2000 is better but not by much. Food for thought...

Here is a suggestion I forgot before. Get a core 2 duo e4300 instead of a 6300. Its fsb is lower, so you can overclock it more. Also with a thermaltake typhoon you should be able to overclock it to ~3.6 ghz

What's the best cooler and the cheapest (2x) 12+ rail 700w power supply?
Which other motherboard should I choose? I also think I'll just buy a physx card another time. I trying to make the best ~$2000 computer using all of the best technology. (SLi and Crossfire suck, no need for them don't recommend them)

Please tell why the e4300 is better than the e6300! I'm really new at this and since toms hardware shows me how to OC the e6300, you really have to put up a good agurement, and graphs, results, the works.

I really would like to thank everyone so far for helping me with my first comp build.

Also which would be the best motherboard for the e(number) and for overclocking and DDR2 800 memory?

Reply to SirCoolness

the ram you chose is fine this ram is also good http://www.newegg.com/Product/Prod [...] 6820145590
a good cpu cooler for the money is arctic cooling freezer 7
as for the rest take a look at my prev post, you can just replace the psu with the 700w version. heres a list of 700w psu's from newegg link i personally wouldnt pair a 8800gtx with a 6300, having the 6600 would be a more balanced system

I would suggest the Thermaltake CL-P0114 (also known the big typhoon) It is a little more than the arctic one (which my friend has btw) but is worth it.

The 4300 is better than the 6300 because it has a lower fsb and a higher multiplier meaning you have more room to go up on the fsb which will give you great increases in speed. here, take a look at this article

Hey SPET3R, I'm thinking about building a system within the same price range, $1100. Could you give me a list of the parts you're using for your build?

Reply to Slizide

I'd keep the Thermaltake fan... thats a great find. With your clearsided case you seem like you'd be the one that wants the system to look as cool as it is fast. I use Artic Cooling on all my systems... but for clear sided cases its pretty boring.

You want the best... The nForce 680i is one of the best boards out there right now as far as speed, but you're going to get SLI right now until its been out a while. nVidia is gung hoe on SLI but you don't necessarily need to have SLI to use the board. I've had the nForce series for a while and its very fast.

Just an FYI, This one is the fastest board I could find with the 680i chip...

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Prod [...] 6813188009

The thing to consider is that the price tag goes up considerably when you want "the best"... I always go for second best spreading the money out on all the components. If it were me building with $2k, I'd pick an Abit KN9 setup with the nForce 570. The CPU I'd pick would be the new AMD Athlon X2 5200 chip with the n60 architecture (its not for sale yet but will be soon).

The thing to watch is that Intel boards are picky with ram (notice how they require 1.8V standard) and it seems like they are limited compared to what is being offered in the AMD arena? I already have a 5.1 sound system and a X-Fi Fatal1ty card but if I didn't, I would buy those with the system. Great graphics can't go without great sound. Headphones get annoying after a while... $2000... get second best and you won't be disappointed.

x2 5000 is a no no in any of my builds. Like I said the 4300 and that cooler that I said earlier should give you close to a 100% overclock which in the article I posted they did on stock cooling. not to mention the benchmarks on the overclocked 4300 handily beat the core 2 extreme in some.

Reply to goorioles747

Agree with some of the other posters, above. My two cents: I would try to upgrade to any board with a P965 chipset, and would always watch out for "open box," you're almost guaranteed of having to RMA it, depending of the vendor's policies regarding return of open box.

I was talking about the x2 5200-5600. Its not even for sale yet. Should match the Duo Core performance ratings but not surpass them. I'm eager to see Tom's Harware update their chart with the new chips just to see how they compare. The prices on AMD's site aren't updated.

Everyone is gung ho about Intel right now so I'll leave it there.

no, once again, I think you are better off with a c2d because of their overclocking ability. Like i said, the e4300 should overclock to close to 100% which should easily pass even a x2 5600

Reply to goorioles747

You're right... if its overclocked. That doesn't work when a warranty needs redeeming.
