Revoltec Fan Controller link

At every step of my new build I've had problems and today's is no different.
I installed the above fan controller and connected the 3 fans that came with my Lian-Li PC-60. The problem is they wont run slower than full speed (at least it doesnt feel or sound like it). What happens is if I turn down the fan dial it doesnt decrease until I get to the low 10% of the dial and the fan stops completely! To restart the fan i need to turn the dial back to the top 10%.

The fans may be slowing down a little im not sure (its inaudible / cant feel the difference in air) but as I turn a dial down the fans start buzzing or squealing.

With all 3 (120mm intake, 80mm exhaust and 80mm top) running full speed my temperatures havent dropped (from having no fans and open side of case)

Also, the PC-60 case came with the exhaust fan positioned as an intake, which was increasing my temp by a few degrees. To quote the website and packaging "The variable transformers are illuminated and emit lighter or darker colours depending on the different fan speeds involved." - this feature doesnt seem to work either >.<

Much appreciated if anyone can tell me if the controller or fans are faulty or if i've done something wrong.

Just sounds like a crappy fan controller. Try a Nexus one, they specialize in this.

Both my Nexus and my Enermax fan controllers work fine..

This is apparently being caused by some incompatability between the controller and fans using PWM. Is there anything I can do about it?

I'm not sure, most fan controllers vary the voltage to increase or decrease the speed of the fan... if your fans are PWM then you might have to either replace the fans or just run them off the motherboard.

Im confused. How can this problem be PWM related?
My fans are 3pin. My fan controller only accepts 3 pin.
And I thought PWM was for the bios to automatically control fan speeds - what purpose does this serve on a fan controller where I want to manually adjust speeds? 8O

I've been offered a discount on their range of fans but how can i be sure they are compatible with my (PWM) fan controller?

It is usually not an issue, maybe check with the manufacturer of both the controller and the fans on whether they are compatible.
