Could someone please help me.
I have 2 OU's, Staff & Students. If I logon as a user in the Staff OU I can
use internet explorer without any problems. If I logon as a user in the
Student OU, whenever I type in an address in the IE address bar begining with
http:// it comes up with the error message "Access to the resource
'http://www.yahoo.com' has been disallowed", as this only happens for the
users in this OU, i assume its a group policy restriction applied to that OU.
Unfortunately I did not set up this system so I don't know what the policy
is. It's causing massive problems for our teachers during IT lessons. Could
anybody advise me on which GP might be causing this?

Thankyou!

Take a look at the GPO or GPO's for the OU's. Note that you can use gpresult support
tool to find what GPO's are applying to a "user" while logged on as a user in that
OU. The /v switch will give more detailed info. If you have an XP Pro computer on the
domain, use the mmc Resultant Set of Policy snapin which will make it easy to track
down the setting. Anyhow it probably is under user configuration/Windows
settings/Internet Explorer maintenance/security zones and content ratings. The
content ratings may be configured. If your network is using ISA server as a gateway
to the internet it is also possible that ISA Server has rules configured to control
access to users based on group membership. --- Steve
