I just got my HDTV box from Comcast today and there was no book with it. I
bought some video quality cables, they didn't have a DVI cable so connected
through CMP looks very good. Is the quality better with the DVI? Is it
worth ordering a DVI cable and are there other issues between the two I
should know?

Are you sure that Comcast has enabled the DVI output on the box? Many
markets only have component outputs enabled.

The person I talked to at Comcast on the phone said I could use the
component or DVI, but you know how that goes.

The difference is probably minimal, unless you are running out of
component inputs on your TV due to number of devices. A lot of TVs do
not allow some of the "zoom" or other picture adjustments availabe for
analog inputs as well. At $100 for the DVI cable, I doubt it is worth
the effort, cost, &c. Lots of outlay, no reward. If you can get one
cheaply ($35, say), then it might be an option.

Additionally, a lot of Comcast boxes don't have DVI outputs that work.

I just ordered over the web three 10 ft DVI cable sets for less than $20.00
a set.
Try the DVI. Depending on the set, you may find that the digital video feed
is managed better in your set (video quality aside). Adjustments for video,
including ratio and progressive scan conversion may be much better. On some
basic sets the cable box may do the better job. If you can't get a
definitive answer on a web site devoted to this topic then give it a try and
report back.
PS, video quality may be better as well if the set's chip set is more
advanced than the cable box, or if the set is a digital display (typically
not picture tubes).

Do you mind recommending the website? Most of the places I've seen are only
offerring the Monster brand at a minimum of $60 to $70.
