I made this thread so people with X850s can worship their cards in peace. Let us pray now.

The X850 I have a relationship with is the best. She's stable, powerful, thin, and lithe. She will help me win in every game I play, even new games like B2142. She gave me her all when I installed the UnrealEngine3 game Roboblitz. She is love.

I agree. The x850xtpe is an awesome card. Since the price of the x1900gt dropped to below 160.00 now there is new comp for best in price/performance.

Reply to gorforg

That's true, but will you forsake your X850? According to some people who I can't remember, the X850 should be able to limp through UT2007, which should be the toughest game around these days.

Well I have an 850XTPE, and it has run all the games i've played no problem. It is starting to show it's age however, I play at 1280x1024, and I have to put many options on medium now in order to get high framerates. It will last until I do a complete Vista rebuild in probably 6-12 months.

I don't know if this is the graphics card or not, but I have had game freezes in all the games I've ever played. When I'm playing a game it will randomly freeze, then the grahics card will ramp up the fan to super high speeds, the screen goes black, and then either the comp freezes and static blasts out the speakers, or it recovers and the game comes back and I can keep playing.

Its annoying, and I've rma'd the card, motherboard, and psu without any effect. Fortunately the freezes don't happen more than 1-2x a day, so I can live with it.

Shader model 2.0 4-eva.

Reply to grifter33

2.0 is such a happy number. The most superior of all shader types.

I have a X800XTPE and I love it, its still a brilliant card, and will join the list of "good cards" i have owned. Help banish the memories of those dark days when I owned a Radeon 9000 *shudders*

Reply to parge

I've got one too!! I love her more than my previous X800XTPE and X1800XT! I know play Tomb Raider Angel of darkness and love it! 1600X1200 all maxed out. It's a same the control is a bit lame. I'm afraid that after a year i'll have to replace her with R600. She'll always be in my heart though! :P

Reply to MikeGR7

SSHHH! Its an X850 funeral in session.

Reply to 4ryan6

Ok I have an X800GTO unlocked with 16 pipes. Works great in an old system that I take to LAN parties so it will sit for a month or two between uses. Works great and has not let me down yet.

x850xt pe is loud, hot, and a powerhouse. Although I doubt it will be able to handle UT2007 at any reasonable quality (Read: R6 Vegas)

I'm an X850 owner I've as much right to be here as you, it was a great card in its day, "was" is the key word here.

I also liked my 9800Pro but its day has sadly passed too! :)

Reply to 4ryan6

I love my x850XT flashed to PE there is no game that I want to play that she can't handle. Ive already done so many things to her and she is still alive. Did you know that she can run way over 128C stable. She is not to loud, run at 2 % and she will never hit over 80 on stock clocks. And if you don't do any gaming you can run her at 0 and she won't ever get above 75. I love her but I may just leave her for Geforce 8600gt. I'm a bad boyfriend.

I just downloaded RoboBlitz, and it must look a little different without Shader Model 3.0 and HDR...

ROFLMMFAO - literally I burst out laughing.

That's just a gag reflex, she'll get over that if you take your time and make her want to do it.

Reply to muffin

tis whats runnin in me rig right now a X850XT PCI Express. She plays it all with no hiccups. Ran real hot with the stock mickey mouse heatsink and jet engine turbine, but now shes runnin REAL cold with a waterblock on her. Any info on givin her some platinum edition implants would be awsome. :D

.. we're still talking about graphics cards i hope.

speakin' of old graphics cards, i kept my trusty geforce 256 until 2004 i believe. she was gettin ugly, but she put out. so i cant complain

Reply to chocobocorey

of course we're talking about graphics cards.

On the old stuff, I still had my FX5700 till December. Man that thing was struggling with everything. Had to play it all on lowest of low. Now with my 7600GS I can play it all again but with lots better (almost full) graphics.

Reply to Dade_0182

Lol! I've even got an old PCI S3 Virge around for testing / emergencies - you can follow the traces and see how it works, almost watch the pixels ooze through. I don't think you'd call it a pixel pipeline, more like a garden hose. It's so slow it'd probably cool a x850XT if I could figure how to heatpipe them together.

My X800XL is serving me well.

I am one of the lucky ones that ended up with an x850xt pe 512MB!! I do love this card. Now, I can't even play Gothic 3, but everything else I play is great!! lol. Got the card for right at $100 and haven't looked back.

7000+ 3dmark05 score, plus I can play FEAR, FarCry, all source games, Quake 4 and Doom, and all my other games maxed out at 1280x1024.

The only I hate about this card is the LOUD stock dual slot cooler.

Reply to TSIMonster

The best thing I like about my X850XT is that i paid $69 for it from Ebay last Nov :)

The performance is good too.

my x800 story ownz...

I scammed Bestbuy into selling me an x800xl AIW AGP 256MB for 140$ even though they were listed for $380.00

(SCAM HAD TO DO WITH FUTURESHOP/BESTBUY SALE THAT LASTED 1 DAY A WEEK BEFORE I DID THIS)

so I took my $140 x800xl and noticed it had r420 core...

So now I have x800xtpe? lol

My ode to AGP....and there is my little sweetie. She still plays it all and has never given me a single problem. Stock cooling not loud to me as others have mentioned.

She does get a bit jeolous when I jump on my gaming box adjacent to her. Dual 1900's in xfire.[/img]

Reply to cruentus

I bought an x800xt A-I-W and I love it, but...
When i tried to mod the bios it shows that it actually is an x800xl with only the 400mhz core speed. It is the R420

Boohoo shame on you ATI. It should be 500mhz

I know from Trinitron64's post I can get the AC after market GPU fan and crank it nicely.

Reply to thecompukid

I have a x850 master crossfire card. I wanted a regular x850xt but the store I bought it from was all out. I've been thinking of upgrading but there's no rush if I won't see a big difference.

Reply to The_Interloper

This is the first card that i have bought and i love it. Got it for 100 bucks after i finally got my maill in rebate. Couldnt ask for a better first card for the price i paid. Replaced the stock heatsink and fan though that thing was way to loud, and didnt cool very good.

Reply to ragekage18

Ive got the X800 Sucky Edition, but its actually very good. I can play 1280x1024 most games on all settings high, and some at 1600x1200 settings at medium.

Ah but the days of my card are coming to an end, Im looking at the EVGA 7900gs and the Saphire X1950XT cards.

All hail the X800 series

I would like to say that you are 100% right. This card is a Legend and will always be, you can even use it in todays games, is a great performer in front of the latest cards.

I sure that those who spent $500 on this card, are still in love with them and will keep them for a long time.

For the bastards selling them on eBay, they suck, most of them say "Im upgrading thats why Im selling my x850xtpe", I would sell it once R600 is out.

Peace

Dont be an idiot.

7800GS > 6800ULTRA... duh!

Is obvious, dont compare something released in 2006 with something released in 2004. That was a real stupid comparison man.

btx.. for a second there i thought i was upside down

I just found a stockpile of 6 Virges at work. You can have them, if you want. They're a bit malnourished, but still have that lean, sexy, single pipeline rape-able look. You're a diry diry boy though... :P

Dust tried to melticate (uhh... yeah, melticate) my X850XT PE. :(

Reply to Arklon

I try all the time and I know this thing has reached 150C. Well not try to melticate it but to see how high it can go stably haven't hit the wall yet.

Reply to derek2006

When I first started Oblivion with my new X800XL (after enduring it for a few months with a 9600SE!), it was a beautiful moment. Ah, the power of 16 pixel pipelines (vs 0 in the 9600se)!

And yes, SM2.0 is the best SM version there is and there will ever be. :P

Everyone said Neverwinter Nights 2 runs like crap even on high end machines, but my card seems to like it.

Reply to Dr_asik

Well to some people if it cant play 1200x1600 at about 40 fps they say it runs like crap.

Reply to derek2006

I ONLY run at 1600x1200 no matter what game it is, and mr R420 just chews it up with ease

btw. that btx case pic looks uber sexy... after seeing that, I don't think I will EVER post a pic of my case. ever. period.

Reply to trinitron64

For an RPG, like NWN, I consider 1024x768 4xAA 8xAF, High textures and most options on except shadows with a framerate of 18-35 to be good. I lived with a 9600SE for 2 years you know.

Reply to Dr_asik

In my book thats pretty good quality and all on a 9600se.

Reply to derek2006

I just bought a HIS X1950Pro IceQ3 Turbo, so I'm selling my X850Pro with the Arctic Cooling cooler on it. It's treated me well, especially for the $120 I paid for it. Still runs F.E.A.R smooth as silk.
