I love this site. I like contributing and learning in the process. I just wish I didn't see so many unanswered questions, especially when I don't have all the answers.

In fact, my first two experiences with these forums were asking for help and not getting any, while updating my threads as I worked through the problems myself.

Anyway, I think we could do a better job of answering all the questions.

Oh, and the notification while picking a best answer should be changed to say:

"Are you sure? This selection is final; no take-backsies!"

Posters will usually only contribute to threads where they have something worthwhile to say. You would probably not need to look very far to find threads where someone has made a lengthy and valid response, only to see nothing coming back from the original poster. I see your point but this is a double-edged sword.

That is true. I've had that happen. I just see unanswered questions from 1-2 months ago that are questions I know other members should be able to answer.

I think some posters may not subscribe to email updates and don't see when somebody finally answers their question.

Unanswered questions is a peeve of mine as well. If you spot any that you think someone else here should be able to answer, feel free to poke them via PM and give them a heads-up. That little help can go a long way to ensuring a user of ours is able to resolve the issue they might be having, and it's a great way to pay it forward. :)

I just posted back to a chap who put three posts in the Opinions and Experiences at 19:41 GMT last evening and hadn't had a reply. My answer was a bit woolly because gaming machine specs are a bit over my pay-grade but sometimes, any answer - especially to a new poster - is better than nothing.

" I just see unanswered questions from 1-2 months ago that are questions I know other members should be able to answer."

If you can't answer a question, how can you be sure that other members can?

My pet peeve is people who post questions - or in some cases even PM me - get a reply from me, and then never come back to say "thanks" or "that didn't work".

With the amount of users we have, I figure somebody has to have an idea. Especially when I see simple questions that even I can answer, having little formal IT training. I try my best to answer to these threads, but my knowledge has its limits.

Or select Best Answer...

We've re-written some of the material in the new platform to prompt users to return and set Best Answers more frequently. I think you'll be pleased with the results. :)

I went into the Beta yesterday to see if my Mod magic powers existed in there (they aren't) and found sub-Forum pages with the blue tick showing outstanding posts I hadn't read. Is this going to be in the final release? It will be very useful if it can be - I did suggest it but thought it was going to be too difficult to include.

Yup! Tracking will be present. :)
