I have Question about supported ram speeds ..for example on a 478 motherboard with Celeron 2.4 with a 533FSB ..PC3200 ram (400mhz)..will be ran at 2700 speed (333mhz) but with a Pentium4 3.2 E 800mhz 400mhz ram can run at its normal speed...

also...will that mobo @ processor support that ram at all.. 533 3-3-3-9 over the 667 at 5-5-5-15 if i could get 667 with with 4-4-4-12 for the same price in a brand I feel i can depend on I would not worry about the latency but I feel the difference is substantial...I know that the 667 would prolly be better for file conversions and map loading but I am more worried about actual in Game performance..where there are fast changes..games like eq2 and similar games....and some FPS's Like 2142 and PlanetSide.. will that dif in latency on slower RAM Help more than the speed of the the 667 RAM???

With my config above what limits do I have on RAM speed..
Do I have to have a CPU with 1066 to use 667mhz ram at its actual speed ect

Update: Mushkin 667 3-3-3-10 model number 991509

Will this Ram work at its full potential with this system...???

OK. Let's startover. These are the mainstream performance components that you should be looking to buy.

Motherboard.......P965 chipset (Asus P5N-E or Gigabyte GA-965P-S3)
Processor...........Core2Duo (E6300,E6400,E6600,E6700)
RAM...................DDR2-533,DDR2-667,DDR2-800(4-4-4-12 or 5-5-5-15)
Video Card.........Various, but just one not two

You're going to have alot of questions. So, let's just start with these main components, and go from there. Also, Take a look at this article. It's a decent, current system guide.

Why not the crossfire configuration?
and why the duo and not the the D ...fsb is faster but the cache is smaller
and well...its about 50 bucks more than i wanted to spend

The "CF", as in x1650Pro CF, stands for Crossfire. Crossfire doesn't work in every game. If you use the dropdown menu at the top marked "choose benchmark", you can see how they compare in other games. Also note, the number of other cards that beat them both.

How do I know if crossfire works a a certain game or not? Also does anyone keep an exhaustive list of games that crossfire will work on...

and can't i just get a 1900 or 1950 Crossfire Edition card and mix it with a 1650...

You can use a lesser card for Physics processing or PPU. The new 1650 card holds its own and is from the same R570 core as the X1900, but just dumbed down a bit.

The X1950Pro will perform better than the 1650 hands down.

You would also Do yourself a HUGE favor by going with the e6300 or e6400 CPU... it is quite literally twice the Pent D in performance... The processor doesn't have a front side bus... that is on the motherboard... and the 63 or 6400 will be able to use its maximum.

Also it should be noted that the Core 2 Duos e6300 or e6400s are much more power efficient... so they do not get nearly as hot as the Pentium Ds.

Mushkin makes some good RAM... but if you only go with 512MBs your system will be bottlenecked. You would do better choosing a pair of 512 sticks at the least.

The power supply you chose is of Low quality as well... this is one thing you don't want to skimp on... If I were you I would drop to a lower power - Higher quality PSU such as an Antec Truepower or Enermax Noisetaker or anything from Fortron(FSP)... Seasonic is another very good Brand to consider.

Being as you are a gamer your concerns should lie in amount of RAM, Speed of GPU, and Processor.

well its was supposed to read 4x512 or 2 sets of 991509 from mushkin that are dual channel....Mushkin advised to go with two 1gb sticks instead of the two sets of dual channel ram ....the two 1650's would later be moved to two other systems for use in lan parties...on even cheaper sytems with only one PCIE x16 alot each and the ram split between the two...two more CPU's purchased one a duo and the other a match of the original going on this mobo......PSU and another matching it will also be put into the other systems...Goal here is 3 systems over the next year capable of playing EQ2 for lan and one Very Nice system...but from what I am getting in feedback ..i think I should consider another mobo altogether...the final MAIN PC for this house I want to HAVE

DUO cpu 1066
4gb Ram 667 or better with low latency
dual 1950xtx i think thats the new one....jesus all the X's and T's get on my nerves
10,000k HD
water cooling.......

So i think i am back to the drawing b.........
