Like many readers surely are, I was somewhat skeptical as to how scalable Crysis will be for those without top-end rigs. "Even more so [than Far Cry]," assured Mamais. "A three year old graphics card should be pretty good. You'll have to turn things down--shadows, particles--but people who get the big machines want to have everything so we're going to be really jamming on those big machines. But for the guys who don't have that kind of budget, they'll still have a really good experience and have fun. It won't be cutting edge with the graphics but it'll be super good. The gameplay is everything." Still, long time PC gamers are likely to be well familiar with the fudging that tends to go on with the minimum spec requirements printed on the side of the box. It remains to be seen how far down Crysis will scale, but it's probably safe to say that many gamers are going to be looking at an upgrade if they want to get the most out of the title when it launches some time this year
Not going to happen. Crisis will be able to run with DX9 but with reduced video features. I'm sure the 7300GS won't even be able to provide enough FPS to allow the game to be playable.
It will run on a 7300GS. I´m quite certain about that. It will just look a little more like Wolfenstein 3d and a little less like Crysis. I bet it will even look decent on a 7600GT.
Don't worry there would be low-end affordable DX10 cards from both Nvidia and ATI. It's one of the reasons Crysis and other good DX10 games to be delayed towards fall of this year. The low ends will be able to play Crysis with acceptable visual quality and performance. That or will just have to try not to think so hard, that way the frame rates will be smoother. Or get drunk and you'll never notice any lag.
I would guess like others that you won't be able to get anything playable in Crysis with that card.
A good test since Crysis is "similar" to FarCry, IF you have FarCry, load that sucker up and if you can't get playable on medium settings on it then you probably can't play Crysis on even low settings. This is somewhat speculation and an educated guess at the comparison but until Crysis comes out we won't know exactly how hard it pushes cards.
Its still fairly safe to say, save your pennies for a GPU upgrade.
Crysis is a highly anticipated PC shooter, mostly because of its stunning visuals. But the better they look, the more demanding they are, any PC gamer will tell you that. An admin posted the hardware requirements on the official Crysis forums. Although pure speculation, the admin claims he has researched a lot in order to get the requirements. Sounds pretty accurate, considering it’s Crysis;
