is my power supply enough my specs are in my signature and a question dual 12v rails running at 20a does that mean its gunna be running +12v at 40a. but is my 650 Watt power supply enough to power my computer. i have no SLI setup either thank you in advance

2 rails @ 40 amps (together) does not equal your max output. you are probably getting more along the lines of 32-36. The BFG power supply is decent but there are definitely better. I'm certain it is enough juice for non-SLi, and you have an upgrade path for up to an 8800GTX.

You should be fine. They recommend a minmum of 400 watts and you exceed that. And yes I believe you are running a total of 40 Amps which is way more than the 26 they suggest. BFG makes a good product.

Sorry but it doesn't work to just add up the Amps on both rails you have t divide the max wattage output on the combined +12V rails by 12 (example the corsair HX520W that provides 480W on the +12V rails can give 40A max)

Max wattage e.g your PSU gives you 600W doesn't usualy matter, you have to look at the amps. With above the recommended amps a power supply below the minimum max wattage requirements of a video card could still power that video card because it only draws from the +12V rails therefore it only cares about the +12V rails output. Get it?

:) Hope I helped.

Edit: and yes it is true that PSUs with higher max outputs can have a lower amount of amps on the combined +12V rails than a PSU with a lower max wattage rating.

The BFG label doesn't tell us very much (sorry about the blurry photo.) There's no 3.3V, 5V combined wattage rating. No 12V combined rating. Furthermore, the specifications on the label don't match the specifications on the box! On the label, we see 0.5A for the -5V and 0.8A for the -12V. On the box, these rails are rated at 1A each!

But thanks to ePower, we have all of the specs we need.

BFG Tech 650W +3.3V +5V +12V1 +12V2
-12V -5V
+5VSB
30A 54A 20A 20A
0.8A 0.5A
2.5A
Maximum Combined Output 270W 456W 9.6W 2.5W 12.5W
650W

456W translates into 38A on the combined 12V rails. Not too shabby at all.

Thanks for correcting me. I figured I was wrong and as always was prepared for someone to challenge my advise. I know how to power one card and have never tried SLi so it hasn't concerned me all that much. As for overclocking his card, who knows. I just overclocked my GeForce 6800 to 430/1400 on a shitty Dell 350 watt psu and had no stability issues. (though I've heard that Dell underates their PSUs. Again correct me if I'm wrong  )
