How viable is my current rig?

I built this bad boy in May 2006, but it's starting to show its age. My Supreme Commander Beta really showed me how dated this box is. :? Here are my specs:

-Athlon-64 X2 4200+ oc'ed from 2.2 to 2.4 Ghz
-Asus A8N32-SLI Deluxe
-Corsair XMS PRO 1GBx2 DDR 400 3-3-3-8
-XFX 7900GTX
-2 300 GB HDD's in RAID 0
-Thermaltake Purepower 680w

I figure my graphics card should be just fine until DX10 becomes more commonplace. I assume my real bottleneck is the processor. I'm heavy into games (FEAR, SupCom, Oblivion, NWN2) and would like to see if my rig can last for a while.

Thanks!

Splendid
Do a fresh xp install
Install dual core optimization driver from amd
Close or remove as many startup apps as possible
Disable security apps except firewall before gaming

Most likely some background app is working the cpu. The privacy apps should be on demand, rather than, residential.

Thanks for the advice guys! :p

I pretty much assumed that my computer was still good. I just get envious of everyone showing off their C2D's and their massive overclocks. :O

I assume the summer would be a hot time to wait to upgrade.

I feel the same way. My computer does everything I want or need it to do, yet I still would love to get some of those nice overclocks and benchie scores 8)

Only thing I need is a gig of RAM and I should be good til the summer.
