Ipod library to itunes in computer

Hi all, I just re-installed my OS and iTunes. I can't update the iTunes library on the computer with the library on the ipod (425 songs). I can only update and download songs previously purchased (195) to the computer.

If I understand correctly when you "Sync" an ipod with a computer it replaces the ipods library (425 songs) with the library on the computer (195). I will loose all 230 songs that were copied from disks. Is there any way around this.

Am I missing something here?

U might loose it. Back up your iPod with free Sharepod or something else and restore or start new.Yeah iTunes suck's anyway.
